Will investments made by my parents for their business effect how much i get from fafsa and cal grant?

earlier i found out that i was supposed to get but UC Irvine had requested my parents tax return and a UCI dependent worksheet. i’m worried that as they review it they might think its weird that our income is about half of what we had last year since my parents invested a lot for their business.

is that odd? i need money otherwise i’ll have to go to city college.

anyone have a similar experience?

For college apps, should my parents go for higher income taxes or lower income taxes?

I am an uprising senior and my parents are wondering if they should apply for higher or lower income taxes, since they own their own businesses and their income varies throughout the year unlike workers. So i guess the question is, does their income rate affect the odds of my admission into certain colleges? Should we go for a higher or lower tax rate?

A question regarding how parents’ tax/business records affect their children’s college financial aid?

My sister’s daughters get some kind of financial aid from their universities. My sister is considering starting a new business but she is concerned that the records of her owning a new business(with the Tax ID and income records) will make her daughters not qualified for their financial aids.
Pleas give suggestion of sources of facts that we can look into.
